Coaching and Consulting
As an educator, facilitator and
Certified Scrum Trainer
I offer onsite coaching and consulting to organizations wishing to explore the benefits of introducing Agile Software Development practices and principles into their work. Using the Agile Manifesto and Principles as a starting point, and encompassing a range of techniques, including interactive, experiential workshops, discovery dialog, and the fundamental Scrum practices, individuals and teams are encouraged to explore ways of thinking and behaving that enhance the agile mindset and support the organization towards enhanced productivity.
Driving change in any organization requires both consultant and customer to work in a way that is congruent with, but at the same time challenging of, the organization's prevailing corporate culture. All personnel, at all levels, are asked to push their own limits and step out beyond their comfort zones. This can be scary. I offer a unique balance of nuture, challenge, passion and compassion to navigate this difficult period, and develop a foundation for long term growth. Working in this way is not always comfortable, but it can be very exciting - and it does result in positive transformation. I work with companies of all sizes; my clients range from small 20-person companies to large enterprises and my portfolio includes, among others Verisign, Business Week, Dell, Hyperic, Bottomline Technologies, Commission Junction and Ternary Software. My consulting and coaching work has taken me to various locations in the USA as well as Canada, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Czechoslovakia, Finland, Argentina, Chile and Costa Rica. A few comments from previous clients and colleagues "When my time comes to take leave of this company, I will count on one hand the people who truly inspired me. You, my friend, are one. The freeing of the creative mind inside the American corporate organism, is a great and worthy struggle. You moved the needle that measures the advancement of that cause. For that I hope you are both proud and satisfied. I salute you." -- Product Director "Thank you for the honest and constructive feedback. Thank you for trying to bring change to our organization." -- Engineering Director "I wish you the all the best Tobias! You are a rich soul and have touched many more lives than you know." -- Product Manager "We'll miss you big time. You've opened our eyes and raised our sightlines to new ways to work." -- Corporate Trainer "I will miss your presence. We need people like you who push the limits, question decisions, and "stir the pot." I have enjoyed working with you..." -- Technical Writer "Sincere thanks for the effort. I do see that the introduction of Agile thinking has made people aware that there are better ways of doing things and at least for [us] it has removed some of the bottleneck/dis-empowering Director-level decision making. That is a GREAT thing. Thanks for introducing Agile, and best of luck in whatever you do next." -- Senior Product Manager "...I feel that I was very lucky to have had a manager like you. Very few managers I have worked with know the art of recognizing and appreciating people's talents. Most go for intimidation rather than inspiration. Very few trust you and in turn inspire trust. You were all of that, and thanks for being all of it. I sincerely hope that I will get an opportunity to work with you again." -- Junior Engineer | |
