Exploration Workshops
Agile Thinking Exploration Workshops are interactive training sessions that provide
participants with an opportunity to explore new ways of thinking and behaving.
Using a number of different approaches, and relying strongly on experiential and
theatre-based learning techniques the workshops provide a self-directed
learning experience which fosters a creative, flexible mindset and prepares participants
for the challenge of adopting Scrum and Agile practices.
"The Map is not the Territory" -- Alfred Korzybski No two of these workshops will be alike, as each is guided by the needs of the individual participants and the context of the group and/or the organization. To a great extent the responses of the participants drive the direction of the session. This technique closely reflects the behavior of a well-functioning, self-organized team. At the same time, the workshops provide a clear structure for personal and group development. More... Example Workshop Description This is the full description of the Agile Thinking workshop held at the Agile 2005 conference in Denver. The majority of the participants were themselves facilitators or coaches, and many were working together for the first time; the roles of the participants, and their lack of familiarity which each other were two of the factors (there were others) that guided this particular session. The Power of Improvisation on Agile Teams This is a brief description of the workshop I facilitated with Jim York at the Agile 2007 conference in Washington DC. The workshop was based entirely on story-telling improvisation exercises from the theatre tradition. The Great Game of Power This workshop is based on the work of Augusto Boal. I have used Boal's methods in other training contexts; the application of these methods to a software development context is something I am very excited about. To date I have had only one opportunity to run this workshop; it is not for the faint hearted, but if you are interested (and I can fit it in my schedule) I'll be willing to run this one for free at your organization. It is close to my heart. Participant Feedback Some comments from workshop participants. |
